Thanksgiving in PA

Sage traveled well on his first plane ride, car rental, multi-city tour. We made it up to Honesdale for a few days and had a great time with both families coming together.

Here are a couple snapshots of that trip.

Christmas in Longmont

We had a fun Christmas morning here at our cozy little home. We all received some great presents. Sage most of all. I think he had the most fun with the wrapping paper though.

Sage's new glasses...

We all got bundled up for an afternoon walk. It was a beautiful, warm day.I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas too.

I'll leave you with a bonus Thanksgiving photo from Honesdale:

Squirming Baby

Here's a video we shot the other night. Sage was all riled up.
We've been posting a lot of pictures and whatnot on my Facebook account. So I apologize to anyone who might still be checking this site.

Let me know if there is any interest to continue posting things here.

Some Shots O' Sage

I know, it's been a while. But none the less, here are a couple of photos.
Things are well here. The garden's growing great and so is Sage.

Sage on the Floor

Well it's been a little while since we've posted anything. Life has picked up the pace a bit and there just hasn't been a lot of extra time. We had some grandparents out for a couple of weeks. A good visit. Liz is back on the farm some and I am back to work, at least part time for now.

Sage continues to grow and develop. He's got a few new tricks. Smiling and following people around the room with his eyes. We found out yesterday that his weight is in the 95th percentile. That means he is big for his age, which is a sign of good health. Last Saturday, the 19th, we weighed him and he was 12lb. 7oz.

Here's a couple videos made by his adoring mother.

The Prince Bathes

We're about to take a bath tonight. It's been our strategy lately, to see if we can coax him into a nice long sleep at night. It doesn't usually happen though. He seems to like being up and awake from about 10pm till 2am.
Sage does get in plenty of sleep during the day however. As seen below, taken just this afternoon.

happy summertime!

It was a beautiful first day of summer here in Longmont. We had a great lunch of fresh, local foods. Then a nice walk around the property and plenty of relaxing.

Unrelated Video about flood irrigation

This is a fairly unrelated video showing our backyard garden and pumpkins. Flood irrigation too. Hopefully Sage will be helping out before too long.

Monday

Just relaxing around the house today. Our midwife came for a home visit and, as always, proved to be extremely helpful. Sage is eating like crazy. His birth weight was 8 lbs. 9oz. and today he weighted 9lbs. 5 oz.! That's a lot of body weight to gain for a little guy and a sign of very good health.

I spent a lot of time out in the garden this morning, working on irrigation systems.
Probably have some garden pics up here sooner or later. Maybe even a pumpkin video if you're really lucky.

Father's Day/or early next morning

It's half past midnight and Sage and I are letting mom get a little rest. Liz has been stronger and more dedicated then I could have imagined. Waking up every hour or two to feed the little Sage, I'm happy to let her sleep as much as possible.

He gets a little bigger each day it seems. I can continuously see him grasping more and more of his surroundings too. He's much more interested in mom at this point, but he lets me hang out with him enough.

Pictures were taken this morning (Sunday).

Happy Birthday

Last night we had Sage's birthday party. He loved it. We had a great meal with lots of homegrown veggies, local beer, and a cake baked by Carolyn. He was awake and aware for most of the evening, much more so then usual. He also feasted on breast milk, setting a new record for most milk consumed.

I'm going to try a video post for the first time. Hopefully it will work out well. I'd love feedback on that.

Enjoy!

Much Better Now

We've been home for about 24 hours now. What a relief it is to be back in our own space. Sage was instantly relieved when we walked out of the hospital. When we put him down in our bed, the bed he was born in, you could see him relaxing. He's basically been a different person since he got back here. Seems much more happy and relaxed, just the way we want him to be.

Going Home

We just got the good news that Sage's blood work came back normal and he has been declared a healthy baby boy. This is something that seemed pretty obvious to us, but it's nice to have the validation and approval from the nurses and doctors.
The hospital we stayed in was comfortable, but we are surely ready to leave and excited to be home.

We had a nice view from our room, but the one at home will be better.

More to come soon!

Here he is!

At 7:18am this morning of 6-7-08, Sage Thomas Box came into the world making his first appearance in our bedroom on Hover st. in Longmont, CO.
The birth went spectacularly. Liz had him out in just ten action packed hours. However it soon became obvious that he would need a bit of extra support as his breathing was rather fast and shallow. So we reluctantly, yet dutifully, made our way to the Foothills Community Hospital in Boulder where I am currently writing this post from.
We'll be here till at least Monday, observing a possible infection, hoping that it is only some fluid left over in his lungs that is causing his respiratory distress.
Whatever the case may be he gets better by the hour and is overall a very healthy baby.

We will be sure to keep you posted as events unfold and we get a few more photos for you. For now I will leave you with these, taken on his very first day.

Wow, It's really getting Close now.

Nobody ever said she isn't a hard worker. Just a couple days before she's due and still putting in hours at the farm.
